We delight in the beauty of the butterfly, but rarely admit the changes it has gone through to achieve that beauty.
— Maya Angelou

We cannot change what has happened in the past.  We can however change our relationship to it.  This is not easy work.  Support in those hard-to-be-with places can foster lasting change and new empowering narratives.

Somatic psychotherapy works with befriending your body in its wholeness (mind, body, spirit). Integrating the relationship with breath work and gentle body-centered explorations, I support you in tracking ALIVENESS and empower you in your full expression.  Along the way, I teach skills that strengthen your capacity to work with difficult emotions and impulses while staying connected to the present moment.

Often, people come to see me struggling with anxiety, transitions, and addiction. My goal is to offer a safe and nurturing experience that supports your development and polishes your innate gifts. Sessions consist primarily of talking, but they might include exercises that involve light movement and stretching, meditation, sounding, visualization, and role-playing.

My style is rooted in mindfulness, resilience, and compassion.  Connections to the natural world, mythology, Hatha Yoga, Authentic Movement, Hakomi,  & Sound therapy all play a part in the work we do together. I practice EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) to support people in the courageous task of healing from trauma.

I received my Masters in Somatic Psychology from California Institute of Integral Studies and earned my license working with a diverse population of folks with a focus on women in recovery and teenagers. I have a private practice in Sebastopol working with some folks on Zoom and some in an open air park.
